City councillor has dim hopes for quick resolution to spiking electricity fees

Franchise fees which have spiked in recent months are compounding the affordability crisis says Meaghon Reid to the Calgary Herald

Calgary City Council is conflicted on the best approach to address spiking municipal access fees, but VCC's Meaghon Reid says the city must move to lower the access fee burden on Calgarians, many of whom are struggling under a multitude of rising costs.

“Calgarians are paying some of the highest prices for utilities in Canada and high prices aren’t expected to change in the foreseeable future. (Calgarians) are paying significantly more than even Edmonton. If The City can play a small part in lowering bills for Calgarians, they should,” commented Meaghon.
